Open Positions

Postdoctoral Scholar Position: Multiferroic moiré heterostructures (SPM, devices, spectroscopy)

Our lab has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar with experience in advanced scanning probe microscopy to study exciton manipulation in multiferroic moiré heterostructures.

The project will employ our new automated vacuum van der Waals assembly equipment to produce samples for spectroscopic and scanning probe characterization, including new techniques which enable correlated atomic structure/electronic/optical characterization of defects, moiré superlattices, and van der Waals device structures.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with advanced SPM techniques such as cryogenic STM/AFM, STM/AFM of van der Waals heterostructure devices, optical SPM techniques, ultra high vacuum instrumentation, optical spectroscopy, and related techniques.

Postdoctoral Scholar Position: 2D + 3D Quantum Materials Interfaces (SPM, UHV growth, devices)

Our lab has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar with experience in advanced scanning probe microscopy to study electronic properties and surface-chemical modifications between ultra-wide-bandgap semiconductors (e.g., diamond) and van der Waals heterostructures.

The project will employ UHV sample preparation and our automated vacuum van der Waals assembly equipment to produce samples for spectroscopic and scanning probe characterization.

The ideal candidate for this position will have some of the following experience: advanced SPM techniques such as cryogenic STM/AFM, STM/AFM of van der Waals heterostructure devices, growth/processing of diamond and other UWBG materials, ultra high vacuum instrumentation, optical spectroscopy, and related techniques.
